Chronic gastritis is the most common gastrointestinal disorder. It lacks specific symptoms, and the severity of symptoms does not necessarily correlate with the extent of gastric mucosal lesions. Most patients are asymptomatic or present with varying degrees of dyspeptic symptoms, primarily including dull epigastric pain, anorexia, postprandial fullness, and acid reflux. In patients with chronic atrophic gastritis, additional manifestations may include anemia, weight loss, glossitis, and diarrhea. In individual cases where mucosal erosion is present, epigastric pain may be more pronounced and may lead to bleeding—such as hematemesis or melena.
