Dr. Shen Yonghua
In general, duodenal ulcers do not cause diarrhea. Common complications of duodenal ulcers include bleeding, perforation, obstruction, and malignant transformation. Clinical symptoms primarily include heartburn, acid reflux, abdominal pain, bloating, and abdominal discomfort. Diarrhea can result from numerous causes—such as the common cold, bacterial or viral infections—among others. Therefore, when a patient with a duodenal ulcer develops diarrhea, the underlying cause must be promptly identified and appropriate, targeted treatment initiated.
