What does it mean when there is blood clots in the stool?
Disease description:
I don’t know what’s going on today—there were blood clots in my stool, and I’m quite worried. I’m not sure what’s causing this, so I’d like to ask: What could be causing blood clots in the stool?
Rectal bleeding—especially sudden, heavy bleeding—may indicate acute hemorrhage within the anal canal or rectum. If a blood clot forms inside the rectum, it may be passed with stool as a visible blood clot. Additionally, after hemorrhoidectomy, when the hemorrhoidal tissue sloughs off, the residual stump may bleed if arterial vessels remain unligated, resulting in clot formation. Patients should seek medical evaluation at a hospital to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate, targeted treatment.
