What Are the Symptoms of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), and What Causes It?
Disease description:
I’ve had abdominal pain for the past two days, and I’ve also noticed abnormal vaginal bleeding after intercourse. I was diagnosed with pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). Could you tell me what symptoms PID causes and what factors lead to it?
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) primarily manifests as lower abdominal pain—typically persistent—and increased vaginal discharge, which may emit a foul odor. Additional symptoms may include abnormal vaginal bleeding and fever. PID is a common upper genital tract infection in women, predominantly affecting sexually active women of childbearing age. It is mainly caused by pathogen invasion secondary to impaired immune function.
