Iron deficiency anemia in young children is generally characterized by pallor of the skin and mucous membranes, particularly noticeable in the lips, oral mucosa, and nail beds. Additionally, affected children may exhibit symptoms such as fatigue, reduced activity, and apathy. Older children might experience dizziness, tinnitus, and other symptoms. Some young children may also develop gastrointestinal symptoms, including loss of appetite and diarrhea. In severe cases, pica may even occur.
