When an anal fissure heals, the sensation is characterized by gradually diminishing pain and absence of rectal bleeding. Generally, after the scar tissue in the surgical area is mechanically absorbed, it may stimulate the nerves around the anus, causing anal itching. Anal itching can also occur during wound healing due to inflammatory secretions from the fissure or residual feces irritating the surgical site.
