How to treat angular cheilitis in children

Treatment should be based on the underlying cause. For angular cheilitis caused by malnutrition, addressing the deficiency through supplementation with vitamins and folic acid is recommended. Vitamin B2 can be taken orally, and local treatment may include moist compresses, removal of crusts, application of topical ointments, and keeping the skin dry. Topical antibiotic ointments may also be applied, but they should not be used inside the mouth. For infectious angular cheilitis, appropriate treatment should target the specific causative microorganism, such as using topical antiviral, antibacterial, or antifungal medications.
