It is generally caused by factors such as osteoporosis. As age increases, osteoporosis develops and the bones' load-bearing capacity weakens, which may lead to bone spurs due to proliferative stimulation. If patients maintain long-term poor postures, such as bending their heads down for desk work or using mobile phones, muscles and bones become fatigued from constant strain, thereby exacerbating bone proliferation. Patients may experience pain and osteoporosis. Some patients who repeatedly move their cervical spine over a prolonged period may develop bone spurs in the cervical region.
