Using a Mirena IUD does not control the growth of fibroids. The Mirena IUD can only regulate the growth of the endometrium and is not intended for treating uterine fibroids. Uterine fibroids are often associated with an individual's estrogen secretion. Patients are advised to visit a reputable medical institution for examination to determine the number and size of the fibroids. If the patient has no discomfort and the fibroids are less than three centimeters in size, conservative management may be considered.
