The Mirena IUD can treat dysmenorrhea. Mirena is primarily used to treat heavy bleeding, dysmenorrhea, and uterine adenomyosis. It contains a large amount of progestin, and after insertion, irregular menstruation and prolonged periods may occur within the first few months. If the only issue is dysmenorrhea, appropriate traditional Chinese medicine调理 (regulation) can be considered—such as avoiding cold, spicy, and irritating foods, drinking more warm water, consuming brown sugar water during menstruation, or taking oral pain-relieving medications.
