What to do about arrhythmia caused by hypokalemia
Disease description:
Due to long-term malnutrition, I have developed chronic hypokalemia, which is now causing arrhythmia and a distressing palpitation. What should I do about hypokalemia-induced arrhythmia?
Hypokalemia-induced arrhythmias are primarily treated with potassium supplementation. Severe hypokalemia may lead to arrhythmias, causing symptoms such as palpitations and cardiac discomfort, requiring prompt potassium replacement. Potassium is usually administered orally using potassium supplements such as potassium glutamate or potassium chloride, which can alleviate arrhythmia symptoms. In cases of severe potassium deficiency, intravenous potassium infusion may be necessary.
