Can you get hyaluronic acid injections after receiving a hydrafacial?
Disease description:
A friend just had hyaluronic acid injections and is wondering whether it's okay to get hydrafacial treatments afterwards.
After receiving hyaluronic acid injections, it is not recommended to immediately undergo hydrafacial or mesotherapy injections. The skin requires a certain recovery period following hyaluronic acid injection. Administering hydrafacial treatments too soon may compromise the effectiveness of the hyaluronic acid treatment and potentially cause unnecessary side effects to the skin. It is advisable to wait until the hyaluronic acid has been fully broken down and metabolized before considering hydrafacial injections, in order to ensure safety. Depending on the type of hyaluronic acid used, complete degradation may take anywhere from 8 months to 3 years. For short-acting hyaluronic acid, it's recommended to wait at least six months before undergoing hydrafacial treatment; for long-acting formulations, waiting 18 months is advised. The brand and molecular weight of hyaluronic acid used in injectable fillers may differ from those used in hydrafacial treatments, and premature combination of these products could lead to compatibility issues.
