Can you take a shower with shingles?
In general, it is acceptable to take a shower when having herpes zoster. However, if the rash has developed significant erosion or exudation, it is advisable to avoid getting the affected area wet during bathing, as this may lead to secondary infections, particularly bacterial infections. If the lesions have clearly formed scabs, showering is permissible. Nevertheless, once herpes zoster occurs, prompt antiviral and anti-inflammatory treatments are essential.
