How long does an anal fissure take to heal spontaneously?

Disease description:

I’ve had an anal fissure for the past two days, and the pain around my anus is unbearable. I’ve been especially careful lately, hoping to recover as soon as possible—but it’s already been over a week with little improvement. I’d like to ask: How long does it typically take to heal from an anal fissure?

Hello, the healing time for an anal fissure depends on how long it has been present. For a recent fissure—i.e., one that has existed for less than three months—and provided lifestyle adjustments are made (e.g., avoiding spicy or irritating foods and preventing constipation), spontaneous healing typically occurs within approximately three weeks. However, if the fissure has persisted for more than three months and is accompanied by external hemorrhoids and fibrous anal papilloma, it will not heal spontaneously and requires surgical intervention. We hope this information is helpful. Wishing you good health!
