Will hyperpigmentation after burns improve over time?

Disease description:

Due to a previous car accident that caused facial burns, I now have hyperpigmentation, with the scarred areas appearing dark in color. This looks very unattractive to me. I would like to know whether the dark pigmentation will improve after the burn wounds have healed.

Post-burn pigmentation can generally be improved with appropriate treatment and care. Medication is a common option, such as using mucopolysaccharide polysulfate cream or hydroquinone cream, which can help fade pigmentation, although these treatments work slowly and require long-term consistent use. Alternatively, laser therapy is an effective and rapid method for removing pigmentation; it works on the principle of photothermal action, targeting the deeper layers of the skin to break up pigment particles, which are then naturally eliminated through metabolism. In addition, daily care is also important—avoiding prolonged sun exposure and friction from clothing can help reduce further pigmentation. Treatment of post-burn pigmentation should always be conducted under the guidance of a physician.
