Will eating bird's nest cause early puberty in young girls?
I want to give my daughter some bird's nest, but I'm worried it might cause early puberty. Could this happen?
Bird's nest primarily consists of proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, and some bioactive substances. Childhood precocious puberty is usually associated with genetics, endocrine disorders, certain tumors, excessive nutrition, or other environmental factors.
Although bird's nest is highly nutritious, its hormone levels are extremely low and generally do not directly affect a child's normal development. However, if young girls consume large amounts of high-nutrition supplements—including bird's nest—over a long period, it may lead to excessive overall calorie intake, indirectly affecting weight and physical development.
Therefore, bird's nest should be given to children in moderation, with attention to a balanced diet to avoid excessive intake of any single nutrient. If concerned, it is advisable to consult a pediatrician.
