Can scalp ringworm be completely cured?
Disease description:
Recently, I've noticed a lot of dandruff and hair loss. After a hospital examination, it was diagnosed as scalp ringworm. Can scalp ringworm be completely cured?
Tinea capitis can be completely cured, primarily through systematic treatment and proper daily care. Tinea capitis is a fungal infection of the scalp, commonly classified into three types: favus (yellow ringworm), black dot ringworm, and white ringworm. Treatment mainly includes medication and daily hygiene practices. Medications include oral antifungals such as griseofulvin, itraconazole capsules, or terbinafine hydrochloride tablets, which must be taken for a specific duration to thoroughly eliminate the fungus. Topical treatments, such as antifungal agents and terbinafine hydrochloride ointment, are also effective. Daily care is equally important. Hair should be cut weekly, and scaly crusts from the infection should be removed and burned to prevent spreading the infection. Shampooing daily with ketoconazole shampoo or hot soapy water, along with maintaining a clean and dry living environment, is essential. Additionally, regulating sleep patterns, maintaining a positive mood, and following a light, healthy diet can further support recovery. Complete cure of tinea capitis requires a combination of medical treatment and consistent daily care; with persistent and proper management, tinea capitis can be fully eradicated.
