Dr. Wang Xiaoyan
Psoriasis is a skin condition characterized by red patches covered with silvery-white scales on the skin surface. Psoriasis is not contagious. The development of psoriasis is primarily associated with genetic factors, immune system abnormalities, and environmental influences, rather than caused by microorganisms such as bacteria or viruses. Therefore, it lacks the basis for transmission to others through contact, air, or other means. Although psoriasis may visually lead to misunderstandings, making people mistakenly believe it is an infectious disease, in reality, it is merely a manifestation of excessive skin cell growth and fundamentally differs from infectious skin diseases. Patients with psoriasis do not need to worry about transmitting the condition to family members or friends and can engage in normal social activities. As psoriasis may have certain physical and psychological impacts on patients, they should actively cooperate with medical treatment and maintain a positive mindset and healthy lifestyle habits.
