Can palpitations cause shortness of breath?
Disease description:
I felt palpitations along with chest tightness when I was on my way to work today. After resting for a while, I began to feel some difficulty breathing. Can palpitations cause shortness of breath?
Palpitations may cause dyspnea, especially in certain disease states. Palpitations typically manifest as tachycardia, arrhythmia, or enhanced cardiac pulsation; this uncomfortable sensation may be accompanied by shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.
In the early stages of onset, palpitations may cause symptoms such as dizziness and shortness of breath. If not treated promptly, palpitations may affect the respiratory system, leading to dyspnea.
Patients with acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, and other severe conditions are more likely to experience symptoms of palpitations and dyspnea during disease onset.
If palpitations occur, it is recommended to undergo early cardiac examinations such as echocardiography and electrocardiogram (ECG) to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment.
Palpitations may trigger dyspnea, particularly in cases of severe diseases; therefore, early diagnosis and treatment are essential.
