Is psoriasis a contagious disease?
Disease description:
I have developed a rash on my body, with red papules on both my arms and thighs. I have psoriasis. Is psoriasis contagious?

Psoriasis is not a contagious disease. Medically, psoriasis is known as a chronic inflammatory skin condition controlled by polygenic inheritance and mediated by the immune system. Its exact cause is not yet clear, but it may be related to multiple factors including genetics, immunity, environment, and mental health. Importantly, no pathogens are involved in the development of psoriasis, meaning it lacks the biological basis for transmission to others. Therefore, psoriasis cannot be spread to others through contact, air, or any other route. Patients can safely engage in normal social and physical interactions without worrying about transmitting the condition. Of course, although psoriasis is not contagious, its treatment can be relatively complex, and the condition tends to recur easily. Therefore, patients require standardized treatment and management to effectively control the disease and improve their quality of life.
