Can I eat barbecue if I have allergic dermatitis?
Disease description:
The skin on my body was red and had rashes a couple of days ago, so I went to the hospital for a checkup. The doctor diagnosed it as allergic dermatitis. Today, my friend invited me to have barbecue, but I'm not sure whether I can eat barbecue with allergic dermatitis.
Whether patients with allergic dermatitis can eat barbecue mainly depends on whether the barbecue food contains allergens specific to the individual patient. Generally, if the barbecue ingredients do not contain substances to which the patient is allergic, moderate consumption of barbecue is acceptable. However, if allergenic ingredients such as seafood, beef, mutton, or other known allergens are used in the barbecue, or if the patient is currently taking antiallergic medications, it is advisable to avoid or limit barbecue consumption to prevent exacerbation of symptoms or interference with medication effectiveness.
Additionally, barbecue foods are often greasy and heavily seasoned, which may cause some irritation to the patient's skin. Therefore, even if the patient does not have an allergic reaction, barbecued foods should still be consumed in moderation. For patients with allergic dermatitis, maintaining a light and balanced diet and avoiding contact with allergens are key to prevention and treatment. If in doubt, it is recommended to consult a physician for advice.
