Correct use of condoms—putting the condom on before sexual activity begins, ensuring it is not damaged, and removing it promptly after sexual activity—can reduce the risk of pregnancy.
If improper use occurs during application, such as the condom slipping off, breaking, or not being put on before ejaculation, contraceptive failure may result, leading to a possibility of pregnancy. Therefore, although condoms can reduce the risk of pregnancy, they are not absolutely reliable.
