Dr. Tian Hongbo

Lipitor refers to atorvastatin calcium tablets, a widely used lipid-lowering medication designed to effectively manage hypercholesterolemia and serve as an important means of preventing cardiovascular disease. The usual starting dose for treatment is set between 10mg and 20mg, taken once daily via oral administration.

Dose adjustments are recommended to occur no sooner than one month, or longer, after initiating treatment. Based on the patient's specific health condition, improvements in lipid levels, and treatment goals, physicians may decide to gradually increase the dosage. However, the maximum daily dose should not exceed 80mg to ensure patient safety.

During the course of taking atorvastatin calcium tablets, liver function and creatine kinase levels should be monitored to promptly detect and prevent potential drug-related side effects, such as abnormal liver function or muscle damage. Additionally, atorvastatin calcium can be taken at any time of day and is unaffected by meals. Medication should be taken under the guidance of a qualified physician.
