Proptosis (bulging of the eyes) is primarily caused by elevated intraocular pressure. However, it may also result from thyroid dysfunction. Prolonged improper use of the eyes can lead to axial elongation of the eyeball, which in turn contributes to proptosis and is directly associated with decreased visual acuity. It is recommended to visit an ophthalmology department for a comprehensive evaluation. Minimally invasive surgery may be considered as a treatment option to help correct the proptosis.
