How to Lower Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT)
Disease description:
After my examination, I found that my alanine aminotransferase (ALT) level is significantly elevated. I’m unsure how to lower it—what are effective ways to reduce ALT?
Elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels can be managed under a physician’s guidance with hepatoprotective medications, which help reduce ALT levels. In more severe cases, intravenous fluid therapy may be considered. Elevated ALT is commonly caused by acute nephritis or chronic alcohol consumption; it may also occur as a result of taking hepatotoxic drugs—in such cases, the offending medication must be discontinued immediately.
