What does “cyst in the right adnexa” mean?
Disease description:
I’ve been experiencing some discomfort in my right lower abdomen. My doctor said it’s an adnexal cyst—what does “right adnexal cyst” mean?
An adnexal cyst on the right side typically indicates a mass in the patient’s right ovary or fallopian tube. Adnexal cysts may cause lower abdominal pressure, discomfort, and pain. Most are benign, non-infectious inflammatory lesions and represent relatively common tumors of the female reproductive organs—primarily attributable to environmental factors and lifestyle habits, though genetic factors cannot be entirely ruled out. Therefore, women diagnosed with adnexal cysts are strongly advised to actively pursue treatment under the guidance of a physician.
