Symptoms of Cerebral Palsy in a 6-Month-Old Infant
Disease description:
My baby has recently exhibited a vacant, unresponsive gaze, and upon examination, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Could you please tell me: What are the symptoms of cerebral palsy in a 6-month-old infant?
Cerebral palsy (CP) in children—also commonly referred to as “infantile cerebral palsy” or simply “cerebral palsy”—is a syndrome of postural and motor dysfunction caused by non-progressive brain injury occurring during the immature stage of brain development within the first month after birth. It is the most common central nervous system disorder in childhood. The pathological lesion resides in the brain and typically affects all four limbs; associated manifestations frequently include intellectual disability, epilepsy, behavioral abnormalities, psychiatric disorders, and impairments in vision, hearing, and language. In fact, diagnosing cerebral palsy is a highly systematic process.
