If a child’s fever reaches 38.4°C, physical cooling methods should be the first choice. You may gently wipe the child’s forehead and armpits with lukewarm water or alcohol (with caution—alcohol use in children is generally not recommended due to risks of skin absorption and toxicity; lukewarm water is preferred). Additionally, avoid overdressing the child or covering them with excessive blankets. Ensure the room remains well-ventilated at all times. If the fever persists despite these measures, it is advisable to administer an appropriate antipyretic medication.
