Introduction
To treat acne effectively, the primary goals are to dissolve keratinized skin cells, reduce inflammation, and eliminate bacteria. Medical treatment includes both topical (external) and systemic (whole-body) therapies. Acne patients should maintain adequate skin hydration, select appropriate cleansers suited to their skin type, and manage excess sebum production. Never squeeze or scratch acne lesions with your hands. Additionally, it is advisable to limit intake of high-fat and high-sugar foods, such as milk and dairy products.

In real life, many people develop acne due to unhealthy lifestyle habits or poor dietary practices—damaging their personal appearance and even causing psychological distress. So, how can acne be effectively treated?

How to Treat Acne

Effective acne treatment primarily involves keratolysis (dissolving excess keratin), anti-inflammatory action, and antibacterial effects. Pharmacological treatments fall into two categories: topical (external) and systemic (whole-body) therapies. Individuals with acne should maintain adequate skin hydration, select appropriate cleansers suited to their skin type, and manage sebum production. Importantly, never squeeze or scratch acne lesions with your hands. Limit intake of high-fat and high-sugar foods—such as milk—and ensure regular bowel movements; avoid staying up late.

Medication-based treatment is an effective approach for managing acne. Erythromycin ointment helps reduce redness and swelling associated with acne; apply it evenly over affected areas to achieve anti-inflammatory effects. However, this ointment must not be used by individuals allergic to erythromycin. Certain eye drops—though not indicated for ocular use in this context—may exert anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects against acne when applied topically. Patients should also avoid spicy, greasy, and otherwise irritating foods, as these may exacerbate acne symptoms.

We recommend that patients adopt a light, balanced diet and avoid spicy or irritating foods. Supplementing with multiple trace elements may help strengthen skin resilience, while regular physical exercise supports overall immune function. We hope this information proves helpful to you.
