Introduction
Nasopharyngitis symptoms include nasal congestion, epistaxis (nosebleeds), and hearing impairment. In the early stage of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, patients commonly experience marked nasal congestion. Initially, individuals may feel that only one side of the nose is obstructed; however, as the tumor continues to grow, bilateral nasal obstruction typically develops. Moreover, symptoms progressively worsen as the disease advances.

In daily life, cancer is the disease people fear most. Although medical technology has advanced rapidly, challenges and limitations still remain in cancer treatment. Among various cancers, nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) has a relatively high incidence rate and poses a significant threat to people’s health and lives. So, what are the symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma?

What Are the Symptoms of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma?

Common symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma include nasal congestion, epistaxis (nosebleeds), and hearing impairment. In the early stages of NPC, patients often experience noticeable nasal obstruction. Initially, individuals may feel that only one side of their nose is blocked; however, as the tumor continues to grow, bilateral nasal obstruction typically develops—and the severity progressively worsens. At this point, nasopharyngeal carcinoma should be strongly suspected. Early-stage NPC patients frequently present with nasal bleeding—blood streaks or clots may appear in nasal secretions, especially during forceful nose-blowing or straining. Persistent occurrence of such symptoms warrants prompt medical evaluation, as it is one of the most common and conspicuous early signs of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Hearing impairment is another prominent symptom in NPC patients. Affected individuals may notice progressive auditory blurring and frequently experience tinnitus. These manifestations primarily result from continuous tumor growth, which causes mechanical obstruction of the Eustachian tube (auditory tube), leading to conductive hearing loss. Headache may also occur, though it is often subtle and easily overlooked in early stages; once identified, it should be taken seriously.

Regarding dietary habits, patients should drink plenty of water and consume abundant vegetables and fruits, while minimizing intake of spicy foods—including lamb and other pungent or stimulating items. When outdoors, take care to protect the oral and nasal cavities. We hope this information proves helpful to you.
