Can durian and mushrooms be eaten together?
Jackfruit and mushrooms are generally not recommended to be consumed together.
Jackfruit is considered a “warming” food in traditional dietary theory and is rich in carbohydrates, dietary fiber, protein, and trace elements. It helps replenish nutrients and may reduce the risk of illness. Mushrooms are also classified as “warming” foods and contain abundant lysine and polysaccharides, which can stimulate appetite and promote neural cell repair. They help enhance immunity and cognitive function; moreover, the interferon inducers present in mushrooms may provide adjunctive therapeutic benefits against certain viral infections. However, because both jackfruit and mushrooms possess warming properties, consuming them together may lead to excessive internal heat (“fire”), resulting in inflammation or exacerbation of pre-existing conditions—potentially causing adverse health effects. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid eating jackfruit and mushrooms simultaneously.
In daily diet, strive for balanced and diverse nutrition, avoiding overly monotonous or excessively spicy and stimulating foods. Additionally, alcohol should not be consumed immediately after eating jackfruit, as this may cause bodily discomfort.
