Introduction
Mild subclinical hypothyroidism may sometimes resolve spontaneously. Whether it will recover on its own depends on the underlying cause. Mild subclinical hypothyroidism caused by thyroiditis may self-correct, whereas in cases of Hashimoto's thyroiditis, the likelihood of spontaneous recovery from mild subclinical hypothyroidism is relatively low. Mild subclinical hypothyroidism resulting from thyroidectomy is generally difficult to resolve spontaneously.

Mild subclinical hypothyroidism may sometimes resolve spontaneously. Whether it will recover on its own depends on the underlying cause. Mild subclinical hypothyroidism can result from conditions such as thyroiditis, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, or thyroidectomy.

1. Thyroiditis

When the thyroid gland is repeatedly affected by inflammatory infections, thyroiditis may develop, leading to thyroid damage. With appropriate treatment of thyroiditis, the thyroid gland may self-repair over time, and mild subclinical hypothyroidism can potentially resolve spontaneously.

2. Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

Hashimoto's thyroiditis is primarily caused by autoimmune dysfunction and often leads to mild subclinical hypothyroidism. As the disease progresses, it may further develop into overt hypothyroidism. In such cases, the likelihood of spontaneous recovery from mild subclinical hypothyroidism is generally low.

3. Thyroidectomy

After surgical removal of the thyroid gland, normal thyroid function is impaired, often resulting in permanent thyroid damage. Mild subclinical hypothyroidism caused by thyroidectomy is usually difficult to resolve spontaneously.
