What medications help recover quickly from a mild concussion?
Mild concussions may recover more quickly with the use of neurotrophic medications, and symptomatic treatment should also be provided based on specific symptoms.
Mild concussion is usually caused by external impact to the head or falling. It commonly leads to abnormal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, headache, drowsiness, and temporary memory loss. It does not cause damage to brain tissue, and imaging tests such as MRI or head CT scans typically show no obvious abnormalities. Therefore, it is generally not considered serious. Under a doctor's guidance, patients can take neurotrophic medications to promote recovery of the nervous system. Commonly used drugs include vitamin B2 and mecobalamin. If significant headache occurs, pain relievers such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen may also be taken to alleviate symptoms.
After a mild concussion, patients are advised to rest in bed and ensure adequate sleep. They should avoid strenuous activities for a short period to prevent worsening of symptoms. If symptoms worsen during observation, prompt medical evaluation with a cranial CT scan is necessary to rule out intracranial injuries.
