Generally, a single dose of no more than 10 grams—approximately 50 to 120 kernels—is considered safe and unlikely to cause suffocation or cyanide poisoning.
In traditional medicine, bitter almonds are used to suppress coughs and relieve asthma and are classified as a medicinal herb. Long-term use is not recommended, and specific methods and dosages should strictly follow medical advice. Symptoms of overdose include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and difficulty breathing.
