Under normal circumstances, it is considered typical for sweating to subside about one week after a vaginal delivery, although the exact time when sweating stops may vary depending on individual physical condition.
After vaginal delivery, women generally have a higher basal metabolic rate and tend to sweat more easily, especially during nighttime sleep and upon waking. Postpartum sweating is a normal physiological phenomenon that helps restore bodily functions. This sweating usually lasts for about one week; however, for some women who are physically weaker after childbirth, it may persist longer—sometimes up to 1–2 months postpartum.
When sweating, mothers can change clothes appropriately and take warm showers to maintain overall cleanliness. Avoid bath tubs and opt for showers instead. The water temperature should be around 37°C to prevent catching a cold or developing fever due to cold exposure. During the postpartum recovery period, avoid wearing excessive layers of clothing and keep the living space well-ventilated to prevent overheating. Avoid spicy and stimulating foods, as these can accelerate blood circulation and lead to excessive sweating. It's beneficial to consume adequate high-quality proteins such as eggs and milk, as well as blood-nourishing foods like red dates and goji berries, to support recovery of energy and blood.
