Is it safe to burn mosquito repellent coils while sleeping during the second trimester of pregnancy?
Generally, pregnant women should not sleep with mosquito-repellent incense burning during the second trimester.
Burning mosquito incense can effectively repel mosquitoes, but it contains certain chemical substances. When pregnant women inhale the smoke produced by burning incense, their respiratory systems may be adversely affected to some extent. Additionally, during the second trimester, placental tissue is actively developing. Inhaling excessive amounts of smoke may allow harmful substances in the smoke to cross the placenta, potentially stimulating the fetal nervous system and affecting later intellectual development. Even mosquito incense specifically designed for pregnant women can cause bodily harm if used excessively, possibly leading to adverse reactions such as allergies or insomnia.
It is recommended that pregnant women during the second trimester moderately consume iron-rich foods such as animal liver or black fungus, which can effectively support the production of red blood cells needed for oxygen supply to the placenta. Additionally, it's best to avoid eating spicy peppers, crabs, pickled vegetables, and similar foods to prevent adverse reactions such as abdominal pain, acid reflux, nausea, or skin itching.
