Introduction
Dry and itchy skin during summer may result from insufficient water intake, leading to bodily dehydration and inadequate moisture reaching the skin surface. When the skin lacks oil, the skin barrier can be compromised, reducing its ability to retain moisture and also causing dryness and itching. Additionally, individuals who frequently work in hot environments or are overexposed to ultraviolet rays from sunlight may experience these symptoms as well.

Skin dryness and itching during summer may be related to factors such as dehydration, lack of oil, or dermatitis.

1. Dehydration

If daily water intake is insufficient, or if one frequently consumes dry and heat-inducing foods, the body may become dehydrated. When inadequate moisture reaches the skin surface, it can lead to dry, itchy skin.

2. Lack of Oil

Oils are an essential component of the skin barrier. A deficiency in skin oils can damage this protective barrier, weakening the skin's ability to retain moisture, thereby causing symptoms of dryness and itching.

3. Dermatitis

During summer, prolonged work in hot environments and excessive exposure to ultraviolet rays from sunlight can easily cause dermatitis, characterized by bright red patches, papules, and intense itching.

There are various causes of skin dryness and itching in summer. If itching is severe, medical evaluation is recommended to determine the underlying cause, and treatment should be pursued under a doctor’s guidance. Additionally, proper skin care should be maintained, and spicy or irritating foods should be avoided as much as possible.
