Introduction
Dry and itchy skin may result from physiological factors or pathological conditions such as pruritus or xerosis (dry eczema), and can be treated through general care or medication. Skin dryness and itching may be caused by physiological factors, or by pathological conditions such as pruritus or xerosis (dry eczema), and can be treated through general care or medication. Specific details are as follows:

I. Physiological Factors

Especially during autumn and winter, frequent use of soap and shower gels can damage the skin barrier, leading to the aforementioned symptoms. It is important to bathe regularly and consistently apply body moisturizers.

II. Pathological Factors

1. Pruritus (Itching Disorder)

This is typically a skin condition characterized solely by itching without primary skin lesions. It is commonly associated with dry skin, systemic diseases, and lifestyle habits. Symptoms include intermittent itching of localized or generalized skin areas. Medications such as loratadine tablets or ebastine tablets may be used under medical guidance.

2. Xerosis (Dry Eczema)

This condition is usually caused by reduced sebum secretion on the skin surface and is related to excessive water loss in the stratum corneum and decreased oil production. Symptoms include dry, flaky skin. Topical treatments such as desonide cream or tacrolimus ointment may be used under medical supervision.

In addition to the above causes, conditions such as ichthyosis, psoriasis, or tinea corporis may also be responsible. It is advisable to wear loose, comfortable clothing, preferably made of cotton.
