What causes unformed stools half a month after birth?
Frequent unformed stools lasting for half a month may be caused by conditions such as intestinal polyps, gastrointestinal dysfunction, or bacterial dysentery.
1. Intestinal Polyps
If the intestinal mucosa is chronically irritated due to long-term improper diet, leading to inflammatory stimulation and raised lesions, it may cause blockage or narrowing of the intestine, resulting in poor passage of intestinal contents and causing unformed stools for up to half a month. This condition is often accompanied by reduced flatulence and abdominal pain.
2. Gastrointestinal Dysfunction
Consuming excessive raw, cold, or chilled foods, or failing to dress appropriately during temperature changes leading to chilling, may disrupt normal gastrointestinal function. This disruption can result in intestinal flora imbalance, thereby causing unformed stools persisting for about half a month.
3. Bacterial Dysentery
If food is not properly cleaned before consumption, ingestion of contaminated food may lead to infection with Shigella bacteria. This infection can trigger inflammation, impairing the digestive and absorptive functions of the rectum or sigmoid colon due to inflammatory irritation, thus causing the aforementioned symptoms.
