How Elementary School Students Can Prevent Heatstroke
To prevent heatstroke, elementary school students can take preventive measures such as drinking plenty of water, cooling down, and carrying necessary medications.
1. Drink plenty of water
In hot weather, it's important to replenish fluids promptly after excessive sweating. Especially during hiking, mountain climbing, or visiting places where water is scarce, make sure to bring enough drinking water. Carrying fruits, beverages, or other thirst-quenching foods can also help maintain adequate hydration in the body and prevent heatstroke.
2. Cool down
Before going out, take proper sun protection measures, such as wearing wide-brimmed hats, using umbrellas, and dressing in light-colored, breathable clothing. If signs of heatstroke occur during physical activity, immediately move to a cool, well-ventilated area, loosen the collar, and lower body temperature to prevent worsening of symptoms.
3. Carry medication
When going out in hot weather, consider carrying medications such as Shidi Shui (Ten-Drop Water) or Huoxiang Zhengqi Shui (Agastache Qi Rectifying Liquid) as advised by a doctor. If early signs of heatstroke appear, take these medicines orally promptly to relieve discomfort. In cases of severe heatstroke, immediate medical treatment at a hospital is required.
