Introduction
Generally, you can do abdominal exercises one hour after eating. Exercising the abdominal muscles within one hour after a meal may cause indigestion or lead to gastric ptosis. If you already have gastrointestinal disorders, working out your abs immediately after eating may easily trigger symptoms. About one hour after eating, most of the food has been partially digested, and exercising at this time generally does not overly burden the digestive system.

Generally, you can exercise your abdominal muscles one hour after eating a meal.

Within one hour after eating, the body's digestive organs are actively working and require substantial blood supply. If you exercise at this time, blood will be redirected to the muscles, resulting in insufficient blood flow to the digestive tract. This may slow gastrointestinal motility, cause spasms of the smooth muscles in the stomach and intestines, and lead to indigestion. Within the first hour after eating, food accumulates in the stomach and has not been fully digested. Exercising the abdominal muscles involves intense movement of the abdominal area, which may jostle the gastrointestinal tract. Over time, this could lead to gastric ptosis (stomach prolapse). For individuals who already have gastrointestinal conditions such as appendicitis or enteritis, performing abdominal exercises immediately after eating may trigger a flare-up of their condition. After about an hour, most food has been partially digested, and exercising at this point generally does not place excessive strain on the gastrointestinal system.

In addition, when training abdominal muscles, it is important to control the intensity and duration of exercise and to progress gradually.
