Can you swim after drinking alcohol?
Generally, swimming after drinking alcohol is not recommended, as it can easily harm your health.
Alcohol contained in drinks can inhibit brain nerves after being ingested, thereby impairing cognitive function. Swimming after drinking increases the risk of drowning and other accidents. Additionally, after drinking, blood circulation accelerates and capillaries throughout the body are dilated. When entering cold water while swimming, blood vessels may suddenly constrict, leading to muscle spasms. Moreover, the metabolism of alcohol in the body requires energy from glucose and fat, and swimming also consumes substantial energy. Excessive energy consumption may lead to inadequate supply to tissues, increasing the risk of hypoglycemia.
After drinking, it's advisable to get adequate rest. Drinking some fruit juice or milk appropriately can help promote metabolism. Avoid spicy or raw cold foods, and wait until all the alcohol has been fully metabolized and eliminated from the body before swimming.
