What should I do for fever?
Fever can be relieved through physical therapy, medication, and other methods.
I. Physical Therapy
1. Alcohol Wipe
After developing a fever, if the patient's body temperature does not exceed 38.5°C, physical cooling methods can be used to alleviate symptoms. For example, wiping areas rich in blood vessels—such as the groin and neck—with alcohol can help reduce body temperature.
II. Medication
1. Antipyretic Analgesics
If the patient's temperature exceeds 38.5°C, physical cooling methods are generally less effective. Under medical guidance, antipyretic analgesic drugs may be taken to reduce fever and relieve symptoms. Commonly used medications include acetaminophen tablets and ibuprofen sustained-release capsules.
2. Antiviral Drugs
If fever is caused by a viral infection, patients can take antiviral medications as prescribed by a doctor. Commonly used drugs include ganciclovir tablets and acyclovir tablets.
3. Antibiotics
If fever is due to bacterial infection, patients may take antibiotics under medical supervision. Commonly used medications include amoxicillin-clavulanate potassium tablets and azithromycin dry suspension.
In addition, when fever occurs and the patient’s temperature does not exceed 38.5°C, taking a warm water bath, applying fever-reducing patches, and promptly replenishing fluids can also help lower body temperature and relieve symptoms.
