Introduction
Itching in the ear after ear cleaning may be caused by external otitis, external auditory canal eczema, otitis media, or other reasons, and is generally treatable with targeted therapy. If excessive force during ear cleaning damages the skin and mucous membrane of the external auditory canal, it can easily lead to bacterial infection of the ear canal, resulting in external otitis and causing itching in the ear.

Itching in the ear after ear picking may be caused by conditions such as external otitis, external auditory canal eczema, or otitis media, and targeted treatments are generally available.

1. External otitis: Excessive force during ear picking may damage the skin and mucous membranes of the external auditory canal, making it susceptible to bacterial infection and leading to external otitis, which can cause itching in the ear. Treatment typically involves topical application of antibiotic ointments under a doctor's guidance, such as erythromycin ointment or clotrimazole cream.

2. External auditory canal eczema: Poorly disinfected ear-picking tools may trigger skin allergies, resulting in eczema in the external auditory canal. This causes ear itching and may be accompanied by sensations of burning, redness, and swelling. Patients may follow medical advice to take antihistamine medications, such as loratadine tablets or cetirizine hydrochloride tablets.

3. Otitis media: Careless ear picking may injure the eardrum, causing perforation and subsequent infection of the middle ear cavity, leading to otitis media. Inflammation increases purulent secretions, which irritate the ear canal and cause itching. Patients are generally advised to take oral antibiotics such as amoxicillin capsules or azithromycin tablets as directed by a physician.

In addition to the above common causes, ear itching may also be related to other factors, such as dryness in the external auditory canal.
