Introduction
A torn leg tendon usually refers to a tendon rupture. After a tendon rupture, conservative treatment can be initially considered. If conservative treatment proves ineffective, surgical intervention may be considered. During this period, medications that promote blood circulation and resolve blood stasis may also be used as directed by a physician. After a tendon rupture, it is recommended to promptly visit the orthopedic department of a hospital for evaluation, identify the underlying cause, and receive targeted treatment accordingly.

  1. Conservative treatment: For quadriceps tendon rupture, immobilization with a cast or brace for 4 to 6 weeks is recommended. For Achilles tendon rupture, a plantarflexion cast with the knee bent should be applied for 6 to 8 weeks. For rotator cuff tendon rupture, immobilization with a cast for 4 to 6 weeks is advised.

  2. Surgical treatment: If conservative treatment fails, timely surgical treatment is necessary. Surgery involves suturing the two ends of the torn tendon, followed by immobilization with a cast or brace to facilitate tendon healing.

  3. Medication: After a tendon rupture, symptoms such as local swelling, redness, and pain may occur. In such cases, medications with blood-activating and stasis-resolving effects—such as Yunnan Baiyao aerosol or safflower oil—may be used under medical guidance to help alleviate symptoms.

After a tendon rupture, it is recommended to promptly visit the orthopedic department of a hospital for evaluation. Relevant examinations such as X-ray and MRI should be completed to determine the underlying cause, followed by targeted treatment accordingly.
