What should I do if atrial fibrillation recurs?
Atrial fibrillation recurrence can be managed through general measures, medication, and surgical treatment.
1. General Measures
When atrial fibrillation recurs, it is important to maintain emotional stability and avoid excitement, as emotional fluctuations may worsen symptoms or trigger other diseases. Avoid spicy or stimulating foods in daily diet, and prevent overeating. Increase intake of fiber-rich foods to ensure smooth bowel movements.
2. Medication
In early recurrence of atrial fibrillation, episodes are often associated with cardiac tissue edema and inflammatory response, which usually do not require specific intervention. As inflammation subsides, the frequency of atrial fibrillation typically decreases gradually. If atrial fibrillation occurs frequently, antiarrhythmic medications may be prescribed by a physician. Commonly used drugs include amiodarone hydrochloride capsules and propafenone hydrochloride tablets.
3. Surgical Treatment
For late-stage recurrence of atrial fibrillation, clinical symptoms should be closely monitored. Catheter ablation may be recommended under medical guidance to reduce the frequency of atrial fibrillation episodes and alleviate symptoms. If episodes are frequent and symptoms are significant, repeat catheter ablation may be performed as directed by a physician.
