How to differentiate between lumps and glandular tissue during breast self-examination
Breast self-examination can help distinguish between lumps and normal glandular tissue by touching. The specific steps are as follows:
1. First, the patient should lie down or sit with both hands placed parallel to the sides of the body, keeping the body relaxed.
2. Then, use the pads of the four fingers of the right hand to gently press the breast, pressing the breast tissue against the chest wall and moving them gently in a circular motion.
3. If there is a breast lump, you may feel a lump-like abnormality beneath the finger pads, while normal glandular tissue will not feel unusual.
4. Finally, an ultrasound examination at the hospital can clearly show the size, location, and characteristics of any lump. A lump is usually movable and feels relatively soft, whereas normal breast glandular tissue is less mobile and feels firmer.
