Social Phobia Treatment
In daily life, some people experience social phobia, which makes them feel extremely inferior and lose self-confidence. How is social phobia treated?
Treatment of Social Phobia
There are many treatment methods for social phobia, with psychotherapy being the most commonly used approach. Common psychological treatments include systematic desensitization and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Systematic desensitization helps patients gradually adapt to various social situations to overcome their fears, while CBT primarily aims to improve poor cognitive patterns, enhance self-confidence, encourage positive behaviors, and help establish healthy social relationships.

Social phobia may stem from childhood insecurity, parental conflict, overprotective or neglectful parenting, or childhood abuse. It can also be related to genetic factors, excessive activity in the norepinephrine system, overreaction of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, dopamine dysfunction, or increased cerebral blood flow in the basal ganglia. Patients should promptly adjust their mental state and listen to soothing music to alleviate anxiety symptoms. If symptoms are severe, patients should seek help at a psychiatric department in a hospital, where cognitive behavioral therapy may be provided, and if necessary, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) may be prescribed.

In daily life, reading books on social psychology and participating in meaningful social activities can be beneficial. Start with family and friends, gradually practicing to build greater confidence and progressively reduce symptoms of social anxiety. We hope this information is helpful to you.
