What should you eat to supplement protein when you have a fever?

Introduction
In general, fever patients can replenish protein by consuming foods such as legumes, meat, dairy and eggs, vegetables, fruits, or by taking medications such as compound amino acid oral solution (14AA), hydrolyzed protein injection, enteral nutrition emulsion (TPF-D), human albumin, ferrous lactate oral solution, etc., as directed by a physician.

Generally, fever can be managed by consuming protein-rich foods such as legumes, meat, dairy and egg products, vegetables, and fruits. The details are as follows:

1. Legumes

Many legume-based foods are high in protein. For example, tofu, soybean sprouts, and bean curd skin contain abundant protein. Soy products are also rich in vitamins, dietary fiber, high-quality plant proteins, and essential minerals such as calcium, iron, and phosphorus. These nutrients not only meet the body's nutritional needs but also help enhance immune function.

2. Meat

Meat such as beef, chicken, fish, and pork contains significant amounts of protein. During fever, the body’s protein metabolism changes. Consuming meat helps replenish protein levels, thereby boosting resistance and supporting recovery from fever.

3. Dairy and Egg Products

Foods such as eggs, quail eggs, duck eggs, cow's milk, and goat's milk are rich in protein. Their consumption provides high-quality protein and enhances immunity. They also supply essential nutrients that aid in alleviating illness.

4. Vegetables

Vegetables like spinach, broccoli, and carrots contain relatively lower levels of protein but provide plant-based protein along with abundant vitamins and minerals. They help promote digestion and maintain intestinal health.

5. Fruits

Fruits such as apples, oranges, and bananas are not particularly high in protein, but they are rich in vitamins and minerals—especially vitamin C—which strengthens immunity and supports recovery. Additionally, components like pectin and potassium help maintain gut health and electrolyte balance.

In daily life, it is important to get adequate rest, ensure sufficient sleep, adjust lifestyle habits, avoid overly greasy foods, and consume more vegetables and fruits.
