Introduction
"Yang recovery" usually refers to the transition from a positive to negative result for the novel coronavirus infection. In general, diarrhea may occur after being infected with the novel coronavirus. This could be caused by non-disease factors such as drug side effects or climatic conditions, or by disease-related factors such as viral irritation, intestinal flora imbalance, or gastric ulcers. It is recommended to seek medical treatment at a hospital as early as possible.

“Post-positive” usually refers to the transition from testing positive to negative for a novel coronavirus infection. In general, diarrhea may occur after infection with the novel coronavirus. This could be caused by non-disease factors such as medication side effects or climatic conditions, or by disease-related factors such as viral stimulation, intestinal flora imbalance, or gastric ulcers. It is recommended to seek medical treatment at a hospital as early as possible.

I. Non-disease Factors

1. Medication Side Effects

Many oral medications and some injectable drugs may cause diarrhea and are common causes of this symptom. Examples include fluorouracil, reserpine, neostigmine, and thyroid hormone. Diarrhea symptoms typically improve after discontinuing the medication.

2. Climatic Factors

As the weather gets colder, if patients fail to keep their abdomen warm and experience abdominal chilling, diarrhea may occur. This can be relieved through abdominal heat application or gentle counterclockwise abdominal massage.

II. Disease-related Factors

1. Viral Stimulation

After infection with the novel coronavirus, the virus may invade the gastrointestinal tract and attack target sites on the gastrointestinal epithelial mucosa, damaging gastrointestinal epithelial cells and triggering inflammatory responses. Patients may experience diarrhea along with symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. Under medical guidance, medications such as Lianhua Qingwen Granules, Pudilan Anti-inflammatory Oral Liquid, or Montmorillonite Powder may be taken to alleviate symptoms.

2. Intestinal Flora Imbalance

If a patient already has pre-existing intestinal flora imbalance, the condition may worsen following viral infection, leading to aggravated symptoms such as diarrhea and bloating. As directed by a physician, medications such as Lactobacillin Tablets or Bacillus subtilis Bifidobacterium Live Quadratic Granules may be used to improve symptoms.

3. Gastric Ulcer

In patients with pre-existing gastric ulcers, novel coronavirus infection may further irritate the gastric mucosa, triggering ulcer symptoms and causing diarrhea and abdominal pain. Under medical supervision, medications such as Ranitidine Hydrochloride Capsules, Lansoprazole Intestinal Solvent Tablets, or Colloidal Bismuth Pectin Capsules may be used for treatment.

During treatment, patients are advised to maintain a light, easily digestible diet to avoid placing additional burden on the gastrointestinal system.
